The City Council is asking for your help planning our City’s change to by-district Council elections. Poway, like more than 60 other cities and 150 school districts across the state, is making a change in how voters elect the City Council.
Beginning in 2018, elections for council members will be by district, instead of the current at-large (also know as citywide) elections in which all voters have the opportunity to make a decision on each council seat. The mayor will continue to be at-large. This means that all voters will continue to vote for the mayor every four years, but will now vote for the one council member representing the district where the voters lives once every four years.
We need your help to make this change!
The primary goal when drawing Council election districts is to draw lines that keep neighborhoods together. So the Council wants to know: what do you consider the boundaries of your neighborhood?
More information will be posted to this page as the process moves forward.
